A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to visit the Burn Studios. Thanks for inviting me to be part of it and allowing me to have a nice chat with the participants.
Imagine yourself in a village in Ibiza, in the middle of the countryside, with production studios and a swimming pool to relax in with your colleagues, also producers, arrived from different parts of the planet. Sounds good, right?
Now add to it casual visits from artists like Richie Hawtin, Luciano or David Guetta, willing to spend some time with you in the studio and to answer your questions. Even better.
What Burn Studios boils down to is exactly that: an academy for DJs, where the energy drink provides everything you need so you no longer have excuses to become a top artist. Besides other artists, Burn invites people from the industry, such as Clark Werner (VP at Beatport) or myself. You can imagine what it’s like for a new producer obsessed with getting their tracks on the Beatport charts to have a relaxed talk with the VP at Beatport and get to ask him everything they want. Interesting! It was hard to follow on after him.
I was able to give them advice based on my experience on the island and I tried to give them some tips on how to strengthen their brand in the business and how to enhance their opportunities on the island. I tried to show them the world wide exposure Ibiza gives to the brands and how important this market is for their future.
A winner was chosen after a few weeks of living together and getting the most from this experience: Manu Vulcano. The Spanish artist earned a residency at Sankeys Ibiza for the whole summer. There, he’ll be able to put everything he’s learnt to date into practice and meet other international artists throughout the summer.
